What is Sailor Moon?

Sailor Moon is a Japanese Anime about a 14 year old girl, named Serena who has been chosen for a very special mission....to save the world. Shes a regular teenager, although quite clumsy and accident prone, she means well. She is constantly failing tests, being late for school and interested in boys. One day her whole world changes as she meets Luna, her guardian. Luna is a cat...a talking cat! At first Serena thinks she is having a breakdown, cats don't talk! After all is explained, she begins her mission as the hero she is to become.

Serena gets her special powers from the Impirium Silver Crystal, a very powerful crystal. Serena has to save the world from enemies from the Negaverse...they come from an alternate universe only they call it the Negaverse....these enemies steal human energy and are constantly plotting to do so throughout the show.

Sailor Moon is not alone in the fighting...she has other "scouts" to help her on her mission to save the earth...Sailor Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus Saturn, Pluto and Neptune.

It's up to Sailor Moon and her friends to stop the Negaverse.

Its been years since this show first aired on Canadian television stations and kids today continue to view Sailor Moon as one of their favorite Anime series.

What I liked about this show was the fact that the heroes were female and the themes of friendship, loyalty and determination were inspiring to little girls everywhere (and boys as well). At the end of each episode, a short segment detailing the lesson being taught in the episode reinforced the theme. This show will continue to be remembered as one of the best Anime series.
