Hot Topic Sells Sailor Moon Shirts

I was at Hot Topic today and very excited to see Sailor Moon shirts, sweaters, bracelets and buttons on sale there.  Best part was the whole store was buy one get 50% off the next item.   Thanks Amanda and Tammy for the tip.

Sailor Moon Revival?

I wonder if they will ever revive Sailor Moon?  This show introduced the Western world to Japanese Anime and paved the way for Manga's popularity as well.

It paved the way for including more strong female characters in children's animation and was widely accepted by audiences of varying age groups, cultural and social backgrounds. 

Personally, I would like to see the future scouts and their accomplishments, e.g. families and if their children were to become the future heroes or heroines.  What other evil dooers would rise up to plot against them? 

I would love to see your comments on a possible revival.

Luna and Artemis....More than just cats!

Luna and Artemis are the trusted advisers of the Moon Kingdom.  Don't let their feline form fool you!  These are no regular kitties.  Their mission is to ensure that the Sailor Scouts have knowledge of who they really are and the battle against evil is about to begin.  They carry with them the tools to help the scouts succeed in their fight against the Negaverse.

Personally, I love Luna. Her character is witty and serious at the same time.  She is very smart, reserved and brave all in one.  The author did a fantastic job in writing Luna's character in that she is not as simple as she appears.  She tries to keep Serena on track with the mission, which believe me, is a task in itself.  At first she and Artemis play a more professional role than an intimate one.  Its almost competitive between them sometimes (in the anime version).

A lot of super heroes and heroines have their smart savvy and dependable sidekick, and Sailor Moon's is no different, except hers is a cat.  Artemis is sometimes more assertive than Luna but eventually they learn to work together and become more effective "teachers" for the scouts.

Darien...Tuxedo Mask...Moonlight Knight...Prince Darien

Ah Tuxedo Mask...what would Sailor Moon be without the dashing and daring Prince Darien?  Well a great show either way...but each good heroine needs her hero.  Darien as Tuxedo mask does fit the role perfectly.

He brings charm and charisma to each episode as Tuxedo Mask.  Its interesting to note that when he is Darien, Serena is constantly arguing with him and they do not really like each other.

Darien was orphaned at a young age when his parents passed away in a vehicle accident.  He possesses psychic like abilities and has prophetic dreams about the moon princess which help him to finally understand where he came from and his role as the protector of the Earth.

He also later plays another heroic character in the show, the Moonlight Knight, in spiritual projection when he loses his memories of being tuxedo mask.

Tuxedo Mask is the everlasting romantic connection or the soul mate of the Moon Princess.

Lita....Sailor Jupiter

Lita is the strong and tough member of the scouts.  She also possesses a talent for cooking.  She is a romantic at heart who constantly sees similarities of her ex-boyfriend in other male characters throughout the show.

She is the protector.  She takes this role to heart as she is always ready for action whenever and wherever the scouts need her.

Her main power is Jupiter Thunder Crash in the first season.
Overall she brings the strength element to the group.  She is not portrayed as the typical "tomboy" as most tough image girls are in other shows.  This is a refreshingly different portrayal as not all strong girls are tomboys.

Rei...Sailor Mars..Like or not?

Sailor Mars aka Rai is a fantastic character with many gifts.  She is known for her near psychic ability to read prophecy like visions utilizing fire.

Her constant bickering with Serena provides comic relief for the viewers.  Its quite entertaining to watch her and Serena fight over Darien's affections.  They constantly differ on opinions over many topics from food to fashion to boys.  In the end they are truly kindred spirits who are fighting for the same cause.

Rai's primary power is the Mars Fireball and she also utilizes her charm scrolls to banish evil minions of the Negaverse.

Personally, I think that Mars brings the realistic point of view and is not afraid to give her opinions.  She is strong minded and confident individual.  An excellent role model for girls everywhere.

What is Sailor Moon?

Sailor Moon is a Japanese Anime about a 14 year old girl, named Serena who has been chosen for a very special mission....to save the world. Shes a regular teenager, although quite clumsy and accident prone, she means well. She is constantly failing tests, being late for school and interested in boys. One day her whole world changes as she meets Luna, her guardian. Luna is a cat...a talking cat! At first Serena thinks she is having a breakdown, cats don't talk! After all is explained, she begins her mission as the hero she is to become.

Serena gets her special powers from the Impirium Silver Crystal, a very powerful crystal. Serena has to save the world from enemies from the Negaverse...they come from an alternate universe only they call it the Negaverse....these enemies steal human energy and are constantly plotting to do so throughout the show.

Sailor Moon is not alone in the fighting...she has other "scouts" to help her on her mission to save the earth...Sailor Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus Saturn, Pluto and Neptune.

It's up to Sailor Moon and her friends to stop the Negaverse.

There are 200 episodes in total.

Its been years since this show first aired on Canadian television stations and kids today continue to view Sailor Moon as one of their favorite Anime series.

What I liked about this show was the fact that the heroes were female and the themes of friendship, loyalty and determination were inspiring to little girls everywhere (and boys as well). At the end of each episode, a short segment detailing the lesson being taught in the episode reinforced the theme. This show will continue to be remembered as one of the best Anime series.

Amy...Sailor Mercury

Sailor Moon is an anime about teenage girls who become super heroes to save the earth from an evil enemy from an alternate universe called the Negaverse.
 
I loved this show.  In the mid 1990's it aired here and we were very glad it did.

Amy was my favourite character.  She was intelligent, diligent and responsible...sounds like me! Although I dont always get the answer right, I do try.

She was the "nerd" character if you will.  She was the genius on the show, always had the answer, the gadgets and know how.  She had automatic wi-fi connection on her super vision "visor" gadget which allowed her to look up information on enemies, locations etc.  You could say she had wi fi before anyone else!

She was the glue that held the group together and who made logic and sense.
